Optimisation settings?

This is more a question, but didn't know to put it better. Please advise if there is a better place.

I wonder about optimisation settings for cl bench. In an old copy of cl-bench thaz i have there is code to create source files starting with (declaim (optimize (speed ....)))

Does the current version simply use the default compiler settings? Shoudn't we declaim or proclaim some settings that are the same for all compilers?
