Profiler sec/call column too coarse
I did a profile test of some code in maxima. profile:report-time
produces:
Consed | Calls | Secs | Sec/Call | Bytes/C. | Name:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
137,426,072 | 581,244 | 0.710 | 0.00000 | 236 | PREGEXP::PREGEXP-MATCH-POSITIONS-AUX
581,244: #<Code Object "DEFUN PREGEXP-MATCH-POSITIONS"
{11D39447}>
97,203,616 | 581,244 | 0.550 | 0.00000 | 167 | PREGEXP::PREGEXP-MAKE-BACKREF-LIST
581,244: #<Code Object "DEFUN PREGEXP-MATCH-POSITIONS-AUX"
{11D3965F}>
9,299,920 | 36,728 | 0.370 | 0.00001 | 253 | PREGEXP:PREGEXP-MATCH-POSITIONS
33,656: #<Code Object "DEFUN PREGEXP-REPLACE*" {122C31CF}>
3,072: #<Code Object "DEFUN PREGEXP-REPLACE" {121818C7}>
The Sec/Call column is really too coarse to provide much information. Perhaps this column should be changed to us/call. The first entry would then be 1.221 us/call. The last entry would be 10.07 us/call.
I suppose we could be fancy and try to determine an appropriate range, so us/call or ms/call or s/call as appropriate. We already do some post processing to determine the width of each column so it all lines up neatly.
